I strongly recommend that people avoid Rainbow Play Systems for long term backyard usage unless you intend to dismantle and stain them all meticulously each year. I would strongly encourage everyone to use pressure treated wood or some durable product and have a local craftsman build you a play structure that will last and support your local economy.

Why do I say this. I was sold on the expensive King Castle set that cost over $5000. I was told it had a lifetime warranty and would not rot. And if it ever did, they would fix it.

Not only that, when I was done with it, I could sell it and pay $300 for the local company to move it. All sounded great. I pulled the trigger. While I'll openly admit I did not meticulously care for the set, staining it once in 5 years, I never expected the structure to ENTIRELY rot away and when I tried to put in claims to fix was denied do to not staining it every year.

To add insult to injury, the pressure treated 4x4's I had holding up my woodpile for the same 5 years close to the play structure, were COMPLETELY fine and in near perfect condition (see picture). I also learned something else through this. The way the support structure is, it's so annoying to have to duck so much getting under the support systems that make a square around the middle of the system, making it terribly unpleasant for adults joining their kids on the play structure. So if you are willing to spend over $5000 on a Rainbow Play system because of the brand or it's pretty.

By all means go for it. But if you want something durable and will last without significant upkeep (to which i'm still not convinced that would have mattered) seek out something built of a better material like pressure treated wood, metal, etc.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Monetary Loss: $5500.

Preferred solution: Price reduction.

Rainbow Play Systems Cons: Quality, Warranty and customer service, That they will not honor the warranty when you make a claim, Quality claims made by marketing are nearly false.

I am sorry that you are having problems with your set. We do state in our instruction manuals our maintenance requirements that include staining that play set every 12-18 months to prevent rot.

If you would like to stain your set and resubmit for warranty, we will take another look at it. Thank you!
